What is MM2H?

MM2H is a renewable long-term residence visa programme administered by Malaysia's Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), open to foreign nationals. Spouses, unmarried children (including disabled children of any age with medical certification), parents and parents-in-law are all eligible as dependents.

From 2024, all applications must be submitted via a MOTAC-licensed MM2H agent — direct individual applications are no longer accepted.

50% Partial Deposit Withdrawal

Across all tiers, 50% of the fixed deposit can be withdrawn — either within 2 years before MM2H Pass endorsement or any time after — for: property purchase, medical, education, or domestic tourism expenses.

Tax Exemption

Foreign-sourced funds, foreign income, and interest earned on Malaysian fixed deposits are all tax-free.

Required Documents

  • Letter of Intent from main applicant

  • Letter of Appointment for MM2H agent

  • Detailed CV / resume (main applicant & spouse)

  • Employment verification or retiree declaration

  • Main applicant's passport (≥ 1 year validity) + dependents' passports (≥ 2 years) — biodata page

  • White-background passport photos 35×50mm × 2 per person

  • IM12 immigration visa application form × 2 copies

  • Certificate of Good Conduct (police clearance) — 12-month validity

  • Proof of kinship: marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption certificate, parents' marriage certificate (depending on dependents)

Non-English documents must be translated by a qualified translator, certified as a True Copy by a Notary Public or High Court in the home country, then go through a two-step authentication: ① home country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs ② Malaysian Embassy/Consulate.

English documents issued by a foreign authority's mission in Malaysia must be authenticated by Wisma Putra (Malaysia's MFA) before use.
